BioTC Welcomes New Team Members and Gains Valuable Insights at National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oklahoma City, OK – BioTC is excited to announce the addition of two new hires, Kacy Unsell and Kelley Dowd, who will bring their expertise to the training center. The team recently returned from a transformative training session at the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM) in College Station, Texas, where they participated in an intensive curriculum transfer program.
The week-long experience at NCTM provided the BioTC team with in-depth exposure to both fundamental and advanced aspects of bioprocessing, including solution preparation, upstream and downstream techniques, and lab setup. This training is expected to significantly enhance BioTC’s curriculum and training environment.
Kelley Dowd, Operations Manager at BioTC, shared her excitement about the experience:
"It was thrilling to see an example of an established biomanufacturing training center and to envision the possibilities for our own facility. We are eager to adapt the NCTM model to fit the needs of Oklahoma’s biotech sector and its people."
With Koey Keylon, Executive Director, Brandy Kickapoo, Upstream Culture Specialist and Instructor, and Charles Burton, Quality Control Microbiology Instructor, the team brings 75 years of biomanufacturing experience. This extensive experience will be instrumental in refining BioTC’s training programs and ensuring that future cohorts receive top-notch education and practical training.
"This curriculum transfer has provided us with fresh insights into effective instructional methods and lab activities," said Unsell. "We can now better design our curriculum to be engaging and practical for our students, ensuring that they are well-prepared for the biomanufacturing industry."
